All compositions by Von Hansen
Mortal Coil is Von Hansen's Debut Album of original compositions. Featuring some of the best percussion performers of the day, this album is full of stunning performances and unique compositions.
The title track "Mortal Coil" is an expression of loss, love and gratitude for Hansen's father, using an explosive ensemble of 14 percussionists and piano.
Other tracks on the album include pieces for vibraphone, prepared with numerous metallic objects, works with percussion soloists and electronic dance based backing tracks, a trance inducing work for harp and four percussionists playing custom music boxes, large brandy glasses and Japanese singing bowls, and much more.
This album of over 100 minutes of music brings variety, emotion and joy.

Von is now the Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Percussion at Washburn University.

5/5/17- World Premiere of "Guitar Breath" for beginning band and electronics.
The Ross/Eisenhower band and Jeff Carlson did a great job tonight in a world premiere of my piece "Guitar Breath" for beginning band and electronics. All the smiling faces show how much fun they had. Had some wonderful interactions with the students and I think the experience made an impression on them. Makes me so happy to share this experience with them.
