Dr. Hansen has over a decade of teaching experience with students of all ages. He is the Adjunct Professor of Percussion at Friends University where he teaches applied lessons, percussion methods, Aesthetic Experience through Music, and directs the Friends Percussion Group. Currently Von directs the Maize High School percussion program and is the vice president of the Kansas Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society.
As a graduate assistant Dr. Hansen directed the Kansas University Drumline and the Central Michigan University Front Ensemble. Also during this time Von taught numerous graduate and undergraduate applied lessons, percussion methods and directed a non-major percussion ensemble at Central Michigan.
Dr. Hansen is an in demand clinician for any age of student. He coaches drumlines, percussion ensembles, individuals, and teaches masterclasses on various topics.
Von maintains a vibrant private studio of students from elementary to college level, developing students skills in orchestral percussion, marching percussion, drumset, world percussion, and chamber music. His students consistently score high marks in solo festivals and competitions.

Clinics and Masterclasses
Dr. Hansen directs clinics and masterclasses on various topics. This clinics and masterclasses are available for student instruction as well as educator development (refresher courses, inservices, seminars).
Clinics topics include but are not limited to:
- General Concert Percussion (snare drum, timpani, mallets, accessory instruments, etc.)
- Marching Percussion (battery and front ensembles)
- Drumset (general styles and interpretation as well as ensemble playing)
-Electronic Music (how to perform works involving electronics, hardware and software needed, etc.)
